Train
We had to leave early as the train left the station at 9.15, so we left the hotel already at 7 to get through the morning traffic and security. There was no traffic and no queue at the security, so we had plenty of time to wait. But damn, this is just one of 4 train station, but the fast train station, and it was huge, more like an airport terminal.
However, we could buy coffee. I paid 40 yuan for dinner, 23 yuan for 20 minute taxi ride and 39 yuan for a cup of coffee! 100 yuan is 90 DKK, 12 EUR 14 USD. So almost the same price as in Copenhagen.
The train was a high speed train, max speed 247 km/hour and we drove almost 1200 km, 6,5 hour. We drove past cities, small villages, mountains with a little snow, gorges, steppes with grass and sheep and yaks, and green fields, some small, other really large. Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures without being a nuisance for my good buddy, Gert. But I enjoyed the trip a lot.
Jangiye
We checked in at the hotel in a skyscraper, my room was on the 19th floor. I have had many funny rooms on my travels, this sis definitely in top 10. It's a room with a desk that looked really business like, and a thing with sex toys on the bedside table!
Monestary
So, as the virtuous woman I am, I rushed out to go to a monestary where they have one of the largest Buddha statues in China, 34,5 m, but it's a bit cheating because it's the sleeping Buddha, so he is not tall but long. But he was very impressive anyway. It was known that he was hollow, but in 1945 they needed to repair him and it was then discovered that he contained scripts in the head, a mirror as a heart, and a large treasure with bronze sculptures, wooden printing blocks, and paintings in the legs. All this was on display in a building behind the building with the statue.
Evening
The dinner was, of course, a lot of delicious dishes. There's a lot of pork, but also a lot of delicious vegetarian dishes. I try to steer way from the pork due to arthritis, it's difficult and it tastes good.
When we came back to the hotel, 30-40 women danced on the opposite corner of our hotel. Some of us went over there and 4 of us women joined. It was difficult to get both arms and legs working, but we did OK, given the circumstances, late, hard day, sore legs etc. I got compliment from a tiny, very old woman. I didn't understand anything, but a man translated. It was a great way to end the day!
